MyThailandSA was born out of a passion for a country and its culture, as a result of many years of exploring not only the many beautiful beaches for which Thailand is world-renowned but also as a result of visiting many different provinces and hidden gems throughout.

Thailand with its 77 provinces, offers not only beautiful beaches, tall sand cliffs and turquoise waters.  Think of jungles; hiking and exploring caves during the day with luxury tented accommodation at night; visits to northern parts such as Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle, looking across the confluence of three countries; coffee and rice plantations; boat trips across waters of Cheow Larn lake in Suratthani, so blue that sunglasses are essential.  Spa treatments whether a simple foot massage or a 3-hour body treatment; fresh produce morning markets; evening markets; negotiating with stall owners to secure that special piece of Thai artwork, carving, silver jewellery.  Enjoyment of traditional Thai street food, although that is not where it ends as there are as many Michelin star restaurants in Thailand these days as there are in Europe.  The ultimate being a visit to a local wat or temple (there are +/- 40 000 in Thailand) to receive a ‘blessing’ from a resident monk.

“How can one not get more passionate about a country which has all these different lifetime experiences available.  We usually say to those whom we are explaining the many different reasons to visit Thailand is that you need to visit at least 5 times in a lifetime … first when you are a student; second when you get married and go on honeymoon; third on a family holiday; fourth when you travel with a group of like-minded friends and ultimately the fifth time for a multi-generational family holiday when all members meet in Thailand to spend quality time together.”

But more than that, open your mind to expect the unexpected.  Meet with the locals; drink coffee with a lady who is nearly 100 years old; visit a local church in a Buddhist village; ride a bicycle through a coconut plantation; skipper a catamaran; dive with whale-sharks ….
